I’ve been so excited to try out the Evelyn Dress by Peek-a-Boo Pattern Shop (affiliate link), and when I found this coral butterfly fabric, I knew it was just right for the project. I just didn’t know how cute it would turn out. I knew I wanted white piping down the front ruffle pattern, and I got started cutting.
I got distracted when I was cutting out the pattern though, and I accidentally cut the swing top option instead of the dress length. I was sad until I looked at it again (and consulted with my Mom) and decided to turn my mistake into a dress anyway.
To remedy the situation, I cut out the difference between the top and dress lengths with a little extra for seam allowances and added piping to the seams in order to get the length back and add a fun detail that I adore.
I also added some ribbon bows to the sleeves and neck and made the cutout in the back smaller.
The Evelyn Dress is such a cute pattern, and I adore it on Saige. I’m glad it goes up to a size 8, because I’m going to be making more of them. And I will probably do the same thing with piping next time too!
I also have several other Peek-a-Boo Patterns I’ve bought and am dying to make up–several are even cut out ready to sew up! If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve seen my stack of patterns and my cut out projects (I’m @MabeySheMadeIt if you want to follow me). You’ll be seeing them soon…
