Clear back in April I got to work with and create a dress that was included in Bonnie Christine’s booth for Quilt Market, and I was elated. I love her designs, I love Art Gallery fabric, and I couldn’t have been more happy to work with both of them. I also got to be part of the #HelloOllieBlogTour, which is an amazing collection of all the pieces created for Quilt Market so you can see them showcased in case you didn’t make it to the show (like me). You can read more about the tour here.
In choosing something to make, I wanted to really showcase the fabric I chose from the line, which was a beautiful plum background with graceful swans swimming. I loved how serene the print was and wanted to create something equally feminine. And as you can see from this image, all the prints from the Hello Ollie collection are beautifully delicate and gorgeous.
And then the fabric came–this is the first organic line Art Gallery has done, and its absolutely dreamy. The cotton was so incredibly soft. The voile is smooth as you can imagine. Its a delight to work with and sews up beautifully.
I chose to pair the swans with the Josephine Dress from Violette Field Threads because of the delicate pintucks, the ruffles, and the ability to showcase the print. I made a size bigger than my Brynley normally wears so another model could wear it for the lookbook, so its a bit big on her but I still love how sweet it looks.
All the details that went into the dress made it such a fun piece that I was excited to send to Quilt Market and share with you today. You’re going to love working with this fabric!
