Ruffled Neckline T-shirt Refashion

Does this shirt look familiar? It’s about time I got this refashion back up since it’s a staple in my closet and kind of iconic on the blog (since you see it every time you look to the right). And it’s so simple you’ll want to take 20 minutes and spice up one of your old t-shirts–you won’t regret it!

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I came to the sad realization the other day (while trying to offer my sister something to wear) that my wardrobe is terribly dull. I have gotten into the habit of throwing on a pair of jeans, the same pair of flip flops, and a solid scoop-neck tee every day. Boring.

So I took one of those basic tees (like you can get from Downeast Outfitters) and spiced it up a little with a ruffled neckline. Much more interesting.

I simply ruffled a long piece of muslin cut on the bias so it won’t fray, then sewed it around the neckline of a tee with several rows of stitching–that’s it!

Oh, and look! I’m making a cheesy face at Saige!

And then she had to pose too, and makes it look so much more cute. Glad she’s mine.

    Oh really…that simple?! Wow! I just got in a bunch of ruffly lacey stuff from my mom. She knows how to make my heart go pitter-patter 🙂 I can’t wait to try this!

    BTW I love your cheesy face in that pic. That should totally be a profile pic, somewhere.

      Thanks, Dee! I love it when things really are simple but seem more complicated. If you try it, I’d love to see it! And I think if my cheesy face was a profile pic, I’d scare people away. 🙂

    Great job! I have a ton of simple scoop neck tees as well, so I’ll have to give this a try. I’ll be pinning this post!

    I love this. My day to day wardrobe has become incredibly boring and I occasionally think about fixing up some shirts, but don’t. I love how this looks!

    Hello, I love this shirt!! Brava! Can a beginning sewer do this? I’m so new I don’t know what”cut on the bias”means! Lol! Could you recommend a book so I can understand these terms? Thank you for sharing😀💕

I'd love to hear your thoughts–leave me a comment!
