Super Easy Circle Skirt

Kids Clothes Week is finally here, and while I’m slow showing you what I’ve been up to, I’ve been busy sewing. Since it’s spring, my girls have been wanting to go outside a lot more which I love. It has also reawakened their love of skirts, and I figured it was about time to make them some that are long enough. And since they’ve done a number on their pants from winter, they’re in desperate need of some play clothes.

So the fastest thing I could think of was a few circle skirts. I shared a post about circle skirts (and the cutest little photos of Maya’s skirt) over at Made from Pinterest about a week ago, but couldn’t resist making more.

Circle skirts are fun, twirly, and super easy to make. I used the tutorial at Made to make them, and it was a quick and rewarding sew.

Brynley’s was made from knit, so I didn’t hem it, but Saige’s wasn’t. And while this is the best way to hem a curved hem, I just didn’t want to this time (these are play skirts after all) so I added a bias tape edge in a fun contrast. It fits her personality.

And they had a lot of fun in them.

My girls love dirt, and they definitely broke these circle skirts in. But for as fast and easy as they are to make, I’m just happy they’re having a great time playing in their new circle skirts.

Also worth noting? While taking the circle skirt photos by the duck pond I took a tumble and gave myself some impressive road rash and a super sore body–why does falling hurt so much more when when you’re older?

  • What fun skirts! I love using bias tape to hem circle skirts. I think it adds such a fun pop of color! I hope you are feeling much better!

    • Thank you! The wounds and sore body are all but gone (although my daughters keep warning me not to fall when I do things now). ;) And the bias tape adds so much fun to the skirt.

  • How adorable on the skirt! I hope you are doing much better, unfortunately when one has kids; there is no rest for the weary or hurt.
Please do take care of yourself even if its for a 15 minute period.
