Embroidered Hand Print Tutorial

One of my favorite things as a mother is remembering and seeing my kids’ handprints as they grow. For Father’s Day this year, I made Chad something with all three girls’ handprints–Maya was only 3 weeks old, and I know I’ll always love seeing how tiny her hands were along with her big sisters. So when I saw this idea from Shelly at Giggles & Beans, I let out an audible “awww.”

Shelly has lots of other great ideas and tutorials, like this one for an Apron Onesie (so cute!) and some beautiful clothes she’s sewn. So after you’re done looking through this tutorial, be sure to go check out the rest of her fabulous blog!

Hi! I’m Shelly from Giggles & Beans and Lisa is so great to let me share with you a simple and quick tutorial on how to make an embroidered hand print (Thanks, Lisa!!!)! I just love hand print art because it is a great reminder of sweet little hands and fingers. They just grow so fast! I included their ages on the ones below to remember how old they were when they has hands this small. These were actually made for my girl’s Great Grandfather’s 82nd birthday and will make great wall decor. This would even be perfect decor in a nursery or with babies a foot print.

You will need a few supplies to get started:

  • 1 Round embroidery hoop between 8″ and 12″ (I actually used my hoop for my embroidery machine to stitch on because I didn’t have any round ones handy)
  • 1 Embroidery Needle
  • Embroidery Floss
  • 1 transfer pen (I prefer iron away)
  • 1 Fat Quarter of fabric

To make follow the instructions below and simply cut away the fabric from the back of the hoop when done.
Enjoy!
