Ready for another throwback post? Last year I made these fun favor boxes for the Core’dinations blog, and now I get to share it here. So if you’re planning on hosting Thanksgiving, these favor boxes would be a great way to let your guests know how much you appreciate their coming.
During this month of giving thanks and gratitude, I love doing a few extra things to show people how much they mean to me. And while I’ll be out of town on Thanksgiving day with family, I have a little group of women who I’m very grateful for, so I’m making up a little Thanksgiving favor for them to open. This would also be a really fun idea to make for anyone coming to your Thanksgiving feast.
DIY Favor Box Supplies:
Step 1: Take the wire handle off the take out box, and lay it flat.
Step 2: Trace the side section onto Gemstone card stock, and cut out 2 for each box.
Step 3: Stamp your greeting on the bottom middle of your Gemstone card stock in Black ink, and adhere to the take out box.
Step 4: Cut a 2-1/2″ strip from black card stock, and punch along the top and bottom with your border punch.
Step 5: Write name on 1-1/4″ strip of Gemstone card stock, and layer on black card stock. Cut to shape of box front, and adhere to box.
Step 6: Reassemble box, tie ribbon to handle and fill!

Cute and simple idea, but WHY take the box apart if you're just adding a few embelishments??
I buy about 100-200 of the Chinese take out boxes in different sizes from restaurant supply store for about 4-bucks. They come in a huge bag and area ll white. Then I take apart the boxes, cover then with scrap book paper (holiday or birthday decor or just colors) and then I re-assemble using colored wire and tie a bunch of fancy ribbon pieces onto one side of the handle. The regular size boxes use a 12x12" scrap paper piece. Large ones require two pieces of paper to cover. Liquid glue and then simple brad to put it back to gether on the sides (big brad with long prongs so you can gret the wire back around it for handles). They are really lovely when finished and soooo cheap to make.
Thank you Bobbie. There are so many fun ways to decorate a chinese take-out box.
