I’m so super excited to share some fun news today–I’ve been cooking up a little series and today I get to tell you all about it! You may have noticed a little something new in the main menu.
It’s a sewing series entitled Recreating Kate. Everyone love’s Kate Middleton style–it’s classic, elegant, and oh so chic. Through this series, I’ll be picking some of my favorite looks and pieces from Kate Middleton’s wardrobe and recreating them using patterns, fabric, and resources available to everyone (and at a much lower cost than you could buy them).
You’ll definitely want to check out the Recreating Kate page for more information about the series, my sponsors, and a listing of all the projects in the series as they’re added.
I’m also excited to introduce you to my first sponsor as I venture into creating my own Kate Middleton style–Overstock.com (as if you hadn’t heard of them)!
I’m so excited about this amazing sponsor and the fact that I also get to share my new sewing machine with you! For the last 6 months, I’ve been using a borrowed machine after mine finally bit the dust. But not anymore–I now get to sew on this Janome DC5100 that you can find on Overstock, and I just have to tell you how much I love it.
I haven’t had it for long, but here are just a few of the things I love about it:
It handles knits beautifully too, which is important since I sew with so many kinds of fabric. There was no pulling, no bogging down, and no rippled seams. It was beautiful!
So thank you to Overstock for the opportunity to get this amazing series started. I can’t hardly wait until Friday when I get to show you my first recreation. I’ve been admiring it all day long, so please come back and check it out then!
Until then, can you guess from this sneak peek what my first Recreating Kate piece is from the clues in this post?
Update: It’s here! Come see the first dress in Kate Middleton style, the Issa Engagement Dress!

What a fun series! I don't have a sewing machine but even I am looking forward to seeing what you create! Love Kate's style.
Thank you Deanna! I'm so glad that this series is appealing to non-sewists as well. Kate's style is timeless!
Oooh is it the blue A-line she wore in her engagement pictures? I love this idea, and I love overstock!
Ding, ding, ding! You're right on! Make sure you come back to see it on Friday! :)
Can't wait to see these!
I an so excited about this series. You are like magic on the sewing machine so can't wait to see what you do with Kate's wonderful wardrobe. Oh, and thanks for reminding me about Overstock!
I love this idea of recreating Kate and you and your talent are just the one to do it. :) The sewing machine sounds great too!
Thank you so much, Jillene!
