Several months ago, I sewed up a lace dress that I really loved and someone commented that it looked like something Kate Middleton would wear. I was so flattered that something I had sewn would be compared to her style–a style that’s impeccable, but can also be inaccessible to those without a royal budget. After talking to this friend a little more, I realized that I could recreate some of the pieces Kate has made famous (and that I’d love to own but am too frugal to buy) and the idea for Recreating Kate was born.
The beauty of sewing is that you can make what you see when you know what elements to put together. It was such a fun realization, and I knew I wanted to create a series where I shared how to create some of these looks from start to finish using materials and elements available to everyone. So you can recreate your favorite Kate looks too.
Do you have a favorite piece you’d like me to consider recreating? Send me a message to lisa@mabeyshemadeit.com with a link to a photo, and I’ll see what I can do!
I’m so excited for this series to come about, so join with me as I sew a royal wardrobe one piece at a time!

I love this idea. I have admired her style. All I ask is that you include any patterns or links to patterns so I can recreate some looks myself.
Thank you, Kristie! And don't worry--I will definitely include links and resources to each post so it's easy to replicate! I'm so glad you're excited. :)
How wonderful !!! What a stylish idea and Kate is so stylish in her own way ! She truly has set a fashion statement.
Thank you, Diana. I love her style too, and now I can have some of the same classy look without the big spending.
Oh I LOVE this idea. I can't wait to see more. I might have to join you as well. I love everything she wears.
Thanks, Amber! I'm excited too. I'll be doing a vote on Facebook soon to help decide which look to recreate next. Should be fun!
