Easy Summer Bunting Tutorial

Need to make an area a little more festive in a snap? Try a super quick and easy summer bunting. I’m bringing home this tutorial from last year and I’d forgotten how cheery it looked in my front entry. Read on for the full tutorial!

Sometimes the fact that it’s summer makes me giddy. I don’t like being cold, so when summer comes I rejoice and want to declare it to the world. And what better place to do it than in the front entry, right?

Good morning! I’m Lisa Mabey, and I blog at Mabey She Made It, a simple sewing, crafts, and home decor blog with a classic feel. I have an uncomplicated style, which means that most of the things I create are easy to replicate, and I hope you’ll be inspired to follow along.

I’m so glad to be here sharing an easy summer bunting with you today. I wanted to capture the essence of summer while keeping it straightforward, so I started with some of my favorite basics–paper and stamps and used color and pattern to reflect the sky, sun, and earth that make summer so wonderful.

Summer Bunting Supplies:

• Patterned paper in 4 coordinating prints (Mine were 6″ x 6″ double-sided from a stack)
• Alphabet stamp set (mine is a retired set from Stampin’ Up!)
• Coordinating ink pad (I used Early Espresso from Stampin’ Up!)
• 3/8″ circle punch
• Small flower punch
• Large flower punch
• Small brad
• Adhesive
• 1/4″ ribbon

Instructions:

1. Cut seven 3″ x 4″ rectangle pennants from your patterned paper and put them in the order you like.
2. Stamp “Summer” onto your pennants–one letter centered and about 2/3 down on each pennant.(The center pennant won’t get a stamped letter.)
3. On the center pennant, punch out a large flower on the lower right hand side. Punch two large flowers and one small flower from coordinating papers, and stack them. Punch a hole in the centers of your flower stack, and insert a brad. Adhere flower stack to pennant.
4. For remaining pennants, punch three small flowers in coordinating paper for each pennant, and adhere to the bottom of each pennant.
5. Punch holes in both top corners of all pennants, and string the pennants on coordinating ribbon.
6. Hang, and enjoy.
