Wallternatives Nursery Decor

I love having a beautiful home, but I’m not naturally good at creating one. A lot of the time, it takes me way too long to create an atmosphere that I really like when it comes to decorating a room. But do you want to know one of my secrets? Vinyl. I love the stuff so much for the way it can transform a space into something that looks beautiful, professional, and put together with minimal effort.

And today I want to tell you about a new company called Wallternatives™. These products take ordinary walls and give them pattern, color, and life without a lot of time investment. That’s huge in my book.

In addition to vinyl decals, they have some amazing soon-to-be-released and available-now products that you need to check out including:

  • WallPrints™ Fabric Decals (these are repositionable and reusable–so cool!)
  • ChalkTalk™ Chalkboard Art (we moms love our chalkboards)
  • WallAppeal™ Removable Wallpaper (COMING SOON)
  • EtchLook™ Decals to look like etched glass (COMING SOON)

I can’t wait to see the removable wallpaper…eek!

I got to choose the Summer Days Flower Vinyl Wall Decal to go in the nursery I’m putting together.

If you’ve been following along at Mabey She Made It, we recently bought a fixer-upper built in 1910 and we’ve been working on the bedrooms–just in time for our baby to be born! So I’m starting with fresh new walls and adding character as I go along. But let me tell you, there are some beautiful designs so choosing was hard!

For this room, I wanted to add some detail to the wall that will eventually house the crib. I also wanted to tie in a bed stand that I recently refinished so that everything has a cohesive look.

So first, I took my decal, and trimmed off a branch that would be the right size and shape for my bed stand. I looked for a section that wouldn’t be obviously missing and would be the right size for my inset panel.

After applying this section to the bed stand, I moved on to the larger piece and applied it to the wall. The larger and more detailed your decal is, the more patient you’ll need to be in getting everything just right. I also had textured walls to deal with, so I took my time, did a lot of scraping and smoothing, and it looks amazing.

I love how the white looks against the gray walls and how delicate the image is. I also love that the bed stand now looks like part of the room with practically no effort.

So what do you think? What design would you choose from Wallternatives? I can’t wait to keep decorating this room now, so be on the lookout for more fun projects!
