Woodland Star Ornament

It’s time for another installment of “Hey, here’s another guest post that I’m bringing home.” It is good to have all my projects in one place though, so I’ll keep sharing them here. 🙂 This was one I shared last year at Lil’ Mrs. Tori.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I love this time of year and the excitement of pulling out the tree (or buying one if that’s your favorite option) and deciding what I want it to look like this year. It’s like a blank slate each year, and I love the anticipation of putting on some music, getting in the Christmas mood, and decorating the tree! So when Tori suggested we make an ornament, I was thrilled.

Are you ready to make one? One more look at the finished Woodland Star Ornament:

Woodland Star Ornament Supplies:

First gather some thin twigs, and cut 10 of about the same width to the same size. Each of my first pieces was about 2″ long.

Cut the ends at an angle so they meet together and start gluing your twig pieces together to form a star outline.

Now fill your star in with other cross pieces, stacking the centers to get a 3-D effect. I did a cross piece from each of the points to the center first. Then I filled in from the center of each side to the center of the star and finished off with another layer of twigs from the points to the center of the star.

When your star ornament is filled in how you want, take it to your blow dryer and melt away all those tiny little strings that inevitably happen when using a glue gun (see above). Then give it a quick coat of spray paint and let it dry.

To finish, glue your evergreen sprig with berries onto the star so it’s kind of nestled down.

Then add a cardinal and you’re ready to hang it!

Thank you again, Tori for letting me share your space today! I hope you’ve enjoyed making this Woodland Star Ornament with me, and that you’ll come check out some of my other projects (like my Acorn Wreath and Sheet Music Pumpkin) over at Mabey She Made It. I’d also love it if you followed me on on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram!
