Snowy Day Sofa Fort Building

sofa fort ideas!

You may have seen this photo in my Instagram feed on Tuesdsay (@mabeyshemadeit–come follow me!)–over night we got a foot of snow from a big storm, and while my girls wanted to go out and play, I wanted to stay inside.

So after I let them go play in the snow, we tore apart the couch and built our own sofa fort. I have to confess that this is the first time my girls have built a sofa fort, and I wanted them to have fun with it.

They thought just being able to take the cushions off was a great start. We have a couch with a chaise and an ottoman and nice firm cushions to work with.

We went for a big fort–we used the couch base for one level then created walls with the cushions. We even used the chaise cushion to make a sturdy roof on the highest level.

It even included two “rooms” for them to hide in and a pillow door and guard tigers for protection.

We used this really soft Lush Decor throw that Wayfair sent me as a door for one of the rooms, and it was perfect for peeking out and standing guard.

This throw has been a big hit since it arrived–everyone in our family has wrapped up in it, and the girls have been using it in their everyday play because its so soft and snuggly. And if this one isn’t right for your decor, check out all the throws Wayfair has to offer.

It was the perfect snowy day activity, and one they had fun with the rest of the day. They came up with several other configurations too. So if you’re experiencing snowy weather–build a sofa fort!

It made me think about doing it myself when I was younger too.

I'd love to hear your thoughts–leave me a comment!
